Packaging Industry to Drive Aluminum Demand in US, Says RNCOS

(EMAILWIRE.COM, October 14, 2009 ) New Delhi, India - Aluminum is fast gaining preference over other metals as it is lightweight, strong and can be recycled easily. Packaging industry is one of the premier aluminum intensive sectors in the US, consuming around 23% of aluminum produced in the country. This high market share is because of the change in habits of the US citizens who are now realizing the advantages of recycled aluminum as an energy-saving and cost-efficient procedure of aluminum production. The same trend is forecast for the future as well and will ultimately lead the market to grow at a CAGR of 5.4% during 2009-2013, says our research report “US Aluminum Market Analysis”.

In our research we have learned that use of secondary aluminum content in all packaging segments like food containers, beverage cans and institutional and household foil is surging at faster pace. Since recycling of aluminum requires 95% less energy than producing aluminum from bauxite, the savings are huge. It is also estimated that till 2015, aluminum beverage containers recycling rate will reach 75%, which will boost the secondary aluminum demand in the country.

In addition, green building industry will provide further support to aluminum demand in the country. As aluminum is almost maintenance-free and does not emit any toxic fumes when exposed to high temperatures, its use in building material is rapidly increasing. However the slump in the US construction industry will affect the aluminum demand in 2009, but green building growth will help aluminum industry to recover in 2010.

Our report “US Aluminum Market Analysis” thoroughly examines the past and current performance of the US aluminum market and incorporates a detailed study on import and export trends, involvement of other industries in the progress of the aluminum industry, new avenues for growth, challenges for the industry, government support. The segment-wise forecast given in the report facilitates analytical snapshots of factors critical for future market success.
